COVID-19 is here and spreading daily worldwide, with populations now being advised stay indoors, avoid social contact and all unnecessary travel, fear is in the air as the latest news reveals further mortality rates and countries to lock down. There is no better time to work on ourselves & grow as a collective. Everything is connected.
I read the quote.. Don’t Save The World, Save Yourself And You Will Save The World.
Becoming more aware of how we treat ourselves during lock down will be what collectively changes the world. Healing parts that are broken of ourselves and becoming more conscious of our daily decision making during can positively impact us as a collective and the planet for sustainability and a brighter future.
As an Msc Public Health student, my studies have been moved online until the foreseeable future so I wish to help in any way I can in preventing further spread of CODID-19 through sharing ways to stay well whilst you are at home, all backed with evidence based information to keep you healthy during this time.
I have created this guide for staying positive and well as this global shift takes place. Time indoors can be time well spent focusing on mental & physical well-being, Take a break from the news and connect to yourself.
Self care saves lives.

- Read. Books are filled with magic for self development.
Don’t forget your mind and thoughts require the same love from you as your body does.

Books for self improvement, books to take you on an adventure, fiction.. non fiction. Whatever it is that grips you.
Reading puts you in the here and now and has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety levels by up to 68%. The University of Sussex provided evidence that reading can reduce stress to the mind and body here : https://www.selfdevelopmentsecrets.com/reading-reduces-stress/
Around 2 years ago I picked up my first self help book.. Or should I say (first book in a very long time) in hope of finding a sense of comfort and help within the pages at a real turning point in my life. Reading isn’t something I enjoyed growing up or into my early adult years, I preferred things to be revealed right away in a film or a short documentary, I never appreciated the patience that comes with reading & the enjoyment of having a real physical page in your hand. Reading was a task, something I wanted done as quick as possible.. It reminded me of a school setting. I would skip lines and vaguely read over pages, just catching enough information to process the message the book was giving. Fast forward to the present, reading is now my university for life. Self help books is where I began learning healthy habits & ultimately some incredible life lessons.

The Power Of Now – Eckart Tolle –
Available free online to read with the following link :
This book was a real game changer for me in the way I considered the importance of my thoughts and had my eyes wide open from the very first page. It put emphasis on living in the present & how this can save you from so many stresses and fears that we all experience. Eckart Tolle publishing this book is a blessing, a diary to always revert back to when you are feeling clouded, a reminder to slowly become more aware day to day of negative and positive thoughts that arise.
The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A Fuck – Mark Manson
Available free online to read with the following link :

The title says it all.
A why not to try to think positively all of the time kind of message throughout, Mark Manson will take you on a journey of finding what really matters to you, urging you to let go of the things you can not control with a realistic voice speaking to you throughout the chapters, this book I highly recommend to everyone to read once.
- Nourish yourself. Mind & Body.

Fear defeats more people than illness. Allow yourself to feel enough fear to look out for yourself, but do not let it take over your life. These are testing times for the world and for all of us & ultimately we can come out the other end stronger if we control our mind taking time out to breathe and take care of ourselves.
Consider developing a new self care routine that will lift your energy to a higher frequency, remind yourself of the many things you have to be grateful for and which areas you see yourself working on in the near future. Using this time to plan ahead & gain new knowledge can be a positive that comes from this pandemic.

Fuel yourself with the right foods.
Arnold Schwarzenegger speaks below in this article about the epicentre of COD-19 being at a wet meat market, and why he will be spending lock down eating plant based foods.
He states ” The virus is believed to have started at a ‘wet market’ – where live animals are freshly slaughtered and kept in close proximity to humans and dead animals – in Wuhan, China in early December last year.

Fuelling your body with nutritious food isn’t about depriving yourself of the tastes that you love. I think the best thing about plant based foods is how much you can play around with the flavours to create authentic natural meals & desserts that don’t make you feel heavy and bloated afterwards. As well as feeling a hundred times lighter, I also feel energy like never before turning vegan and a compassionate connection with the world around me.
